Taylor Stewart
Taylor joined St. Michael's Catholic Preparatory School in a part-time capacity during the fall of 2024 as a varsity assistant football coach. He brings 18 years of independent school experience, having graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a B.S. in Kinesiology.
Taylor's most recent role was as the director and head football coach of the Austin Saints (2018-2020), a partnered football program between St. Andrew's and St. Stephen's Episcopal Schools. Having garnered all of his experience in education as an employee of these two institutions, Taylor's appointment to this position made the transition seamless.
Prior to this unique venture, Taylor spent six seasons (2010-2015) at St. Andrew's working alongside Ty Detmer as the varsity defensive coordinator and middle school head coach before being named the varsity head coach in 2016. During his tenure at St. Stephen’s (2003-2009), he served as defensive coordinator as well as coaching the offensive and defensive lines.
Besides his association with football, Taylor was also the head strength and conditioning coach and an advisor at both of his previous stops. He trained all of the school’s athletes in various capacities while guiding students every year through their academic and extracurricular endeavors.
He and his wife, Amanda, have five children: daughters Sienna and Sloane, and three sons, Jaxon, Maddock, and Sidney.
