Congratulations to the varsity boys golf team for finishing in 3rd place at the TAPPS 6A State Golf Championship this week in Glen Rose! The team battled cold, blustery, and rainy weather under the leadership of Harrison Knight ('25), who led the tournament after day one with a stellar 2-under par score of 70. A rain-shortened day two only allowed for nine holes of play. Harrison played solid with a score of even par to finish the tournament at 2-under, but it was not enough as the eventual champion went on a barrage of birdies to shoot 4-under in the final nine holes and claim the individual state title by three, leaving Harrison with a runner-up finish. Well done, Harrison, as you end your Warrior career with some of the best golf in school history!
Sonny Sciantarelli ('27) fired a fantastic 2-under par score of 34 to vault him into 9th place individually. Sonny and Harrison earned All-State honors with their top-10 finishes. Other golfers representing St. Michael's Prep were Jackson Mills ('28), Aiden Cranis ('28), and Colin McCrea ('27). Each team member contributed scores in district and regionals that helped the team reach State in back-to-back years – a well-deserved recognition for all five boys.
For the second week in a row, more school records were broken:
Best Team Finish in the State Championship: 3rd place (previous record: 4th in 2001)
Best Individual Finish in the State Championship: 2nd place, Harrison Knight ('25) (previous record: 3rd place, Daniel De La Garza
& Jose Narro in 2013)
Congratulations to our Warrior golfers on a record-breaking season!
