Congratulations to the Sapphire varsity and JV dance teams for their outstanding achievements at the UDA camp in San Marcos, held from July 24 to 27! The teams kicked off the camp with a strong start, securing 4th place in the home routine competition. Following two intensive days of learning, the Sapphires showcased their talent in a team performance, earning Blue Ribbons across the board—the highest possible rating!

Individual excellence was also celebrated, with six Sapphires named to the All-American Dance Team: Katie Gutierrez ('27), Charli Vinklarek ('27), Hannah Howard ('26), Ana Creixell ('27), Addison Kelley ('27), and India Panter ('29). The Sapphires' energy didn't go unnoticed! On the second day, another dance team recognized their spirit and performance by awarding them the Super Spirit Stick.

The Sapphires consistently excelled in the "drill down" challenges, where students follow commands and perform specific actions, earning the highest average number of ribbons throughout the camp. Five members reached the semi-final round: Alina Fang ('27), Hannah Howard ('26), Charli Vinklarek ('27), Sierra Schwartzfarb ('28), and Addison Kelley ('27). Hannah and Alina advanced to the finals, with Alina crowned the Drill Down Queen!

Beyond their impressive dance skills, the Sapphires demonstrated exceptional character. Staff members, looking for students who embody leadership and positive representation, awarded Charli Vinklarek ('27) a "Pin It Forward" recognition. Charli also received a scholarship to attend a varsity college performance combine as a standout student at the camp.

On the final day, every Sapphire earned at least one blue ribbon during individual evaluations for the two dances learned at camp. Despite having only 48 hours to prepare, their dedication and vibrant energy shone through, culminating in the team earning a well-deserved Superior Trophy!
