The varsity boys track and field team won the TAPPS District 3 track and field championship on Monday, April 17. The boys secured first-place wins in each of the three relays they competed in (4x100M, 4x200M, and 4x400M), as well as placed first in nine of the 14 individual events contested.
In addition to the relay teams, outstanding performances were recorded by Gabriel Estrada ('23), winning the 800M, 1600M, and 3200M events, and JaHazniah Griffin ('23) winning the shot put and discus. All event winners and second-place finishers will now advance to the TAPPS 5A Regionals in Dallas next week on Wednesday, April 26.
The following athletes finished in the top three of their respective events: Ethan Dang ('25) (2nd - 100M, 3rd - 400M), Max Pahlke ('24) (1st - high jump, 2nd - 100M Hurdles), Bo Ogden ('26) (1st - triple jump, 3rd – 300M hurdles), Zander Romero ('23) (1st - long jump), Nehemiah Griffin ('25) (2nd - shot put, 2nd - discus), and Cole Nguyen ('25) (1st – pole vault).
The girls track and field team placed place third overall, with Claire Lawler ('24) being named the team’s outstanding performer, securing first place in both the 100M hurdle, 300M hurdles, and the pole vault. Claire also finished second place in the high jump.
Top three finishes were also recorded by Jadyn Dawson ('25) (3rd - 100M, 3rd - shot put), Landyn Loeffler ('26) (2nd - 400M), Merritt Lane ('26) (3rd - long jump), Janine Dubois ('25) (1st - shot put), Mia Kropewnicki ('26) (1st - discus), and Gabi Webb ('25) (2nd - pole vault). The girls’ relay teams finished second in the 4x400M and placed third in the 4x100M and the 4x200M.
Congratulations to both boys and girls teams for their outstanding individual and team efforts in the district meet. All first and second-place finishers in the individual events and relays are advancing to TAPPS 5A Regionals on Wednesday, April 26.
