On Wednesday, November 6, Viki Hernandez ('27) competed at the Joy Riley Invitational Golf Tournament hosted by Anderson High School at Lions Municipal Golf Course. The field consisted of 75 girls from schools in the Central Texas area – Viki finished in 11th place with a very steady day from tee to green. The tricky Lions Course greens made it difficult to break 90 and held Viki to a respectable 94. Way to go, Viki!
On Thursday, November 7th, the boys golf team competed in the Don Beaver Invitational hosted by Anderson High School at Lions Municipal Golf Course. Over 120 players from 16 high schools from around the area competed in this event.
St. Michael's Prep sent six players – three sophomores and three freshmen – onto the course. Congratulations to Colin McCrea ('27), Aiden Cranis ('28), and Dylan Duke ('28) as they competed in their first-ever golf tournament, which is always a challenge and a great learning experience early in their golf career.
Jackson Mills ('27) led the team with a 79 (+8), good for a top-40 finish. Other team scores included: Sonny Sciantarelli ('27) with an 85 (+14), Reid Bautch ('27) with an 88 (+17), Colin McCrea ('27) with an 89 (+18), Aiden Cranis ('28) with a 97 (+26), and Dylan Duke ('28) with a 103 (+32).
The next girls event is Monday, December 9 at Balcones Country Club, where the Westwood Warriors will host a par-3 tournament. The boys will be competing again on Monday, November 18, at Shadow Glen Golf Course in Manor at the Wolfpack Invitational, hosted by Weiss High School.
